This book is very well laid out and does explain quite a bit with good detail and good pictures to illustrate the process of a rebuild. The only thing I thought was missing from the book would have been better detail on shimming the pinion gears to get the right pinion depth. There was not much detail on that. The book did go into how to install the shim but did not really mention how to adjust the depth. I had to watch videos on you tube to learn that. That was the whole reason for me purchasing the book. But like I said already it is a good book and will help the novice, like myself, in the rebuild of a differential.

Purchased book to rebuild a junk yard rear end so my car will not be down long. Book was just as the description said and is very well written and I cannot wait to dig in and tackle the job ahead. Came very fast as well in the mail. Sooner then what was on the delivery estimate.

This is a really good book- it's about rebuilding the differentials and not about selling someone's products. Gives you everything you need to know if you have never done it before and includes performance mods and advice. I recommend this book.

Q: Do you have a hero?

A: Of course, my greatest hero is Jesus Christ. He should be everyone's greatest hero. However, among men, I have two real heroes. My father, John Osteen, was not only the best father anyone could ever have, but was my best friend as well. He was a man of great integrity, and he taught me how important it was to incorporate Jesus Christ into every part of my life. Another of my heroes is Billy Graham who throughout the years has remained true to that which God called him to do and has done so with the utmost dedication, humility, and integrity.

Q: In today's conflicted world, how do you encourage people to maintain their faith?

A: As believers we should be assured that Jesus said He would never leave us nor forsake us. We should adopt a mindset that God wants to be involved in our everyday lives, through good times and difficult times. We should communicate with God throughout our day (to pray without ceasing), not just when we are in crisis. He cares about our lives even in the small things. There is no part of our lives that are insignificant to Him.

Q: What did working behind the scenes at Lakewood during your father's ministry inform how you preach today?

A: Really it all started for me when I was born. Our family never missed church; Sunday morning, Sunday night and Wednesday night, week in and week out. However, for 17 years I did produce and edit my father’s sermons for television. I often joke that I attended one year of college and 17 years of seminary. For those 17 years, I would have to study my father's weekly sermons and then cut them down to a 28-minute TV program while maintaining the message. I guess I've listened to at least 1,500 of my father’s messages.

Q: Your ministry reaches millions each week through television and the Internet. How has technology changed how people worship today?

A: Through telecommunications technology, especially the web, more Christian programming is available than ever before. Not only do people have more choices in Christian programming, but they can get as much as they want whenever they want it. I think that our use of technology results in people spending more of their time thinking about the things of God. However, I don't see technology replacing worship in the traditional sense--that is worshipping with other believers in a church. Everyone should belong to a good Bible-based church.

Q: In our busy lives, what is your advice for how we can slow things down and find peaceful moments?

A: Personally, I take time each morning to spend with God. I have a quiet place in my home or I find a quiet place if I am traveling where I pray and seek guidance from God. I think that is the best way for anyone to start their day; it really sets the tone for each day.

Q: As a father, what advice would you share with parents struggling with our fast-paced culture?

A: Victoria and I decided a long time ago that our family takes priority over most everything else. I tell people all the time that their families should be their first mission field. Today, it takes a great deal of our time and energy to make a living. We need to make sure our families don't get the short end of the stick and we need to make time for them. And, I am talking about "quality time"; no cell phones, no business calls, no outside distractions, just family.

I wish I could say writing this letter you is easy, but it is not. I am writing this letter to you from the bottom of my heart. I cannot stress to you enough how much writing this letter to you means to me. Nothing in the world bring me greater joy than to share, give, and cry tears of joy with you about a book that has changed my life, but most importantly the lives of others. Hats off to Donald Trump and hats off to Joel Osteen for teaching is the power of comeback!

Joel discusses the importance of a breakthrough is his books the importance of finding your breakthrough, what to do when you find your breakthrough, and how to find your breakthrough if you have not. I love this topic because so many of us are waiting for our breakthrough to happen. Let me be the one to tell you that when you believe all things are possible. Your breakthrough is right around the corner, but you have to believe. Believing is not enough its only part of the solution. You have to take action! Your not going to get it asleep, your not going to get it sitting at home, and its not going to magically fall into your lap. You have to take action and you have to be responsible for your own actions. If you first pray and then practice these principals you too can receive your breakthrough for whatever it is you have been believing for. God is a good God.

Joel teaches on the importance of a turnaround. A turnaround is a cause or action that allows one or something to relapse itself in positive manner in which a person, place or thing makes a miraculous comeback or breakthrough in a certain field, arena, or industry. When I think of turnaround I think of companies like Apple. Steve Jobs has done an outstanding job with the company Apple. I think back to a time when no one or anyone would even call Apple by the name of Apple. Apple was once referred to as Macintosh, which is now short for Mac. Macintosh has been along way with their number one competitor, which is Microsoft. Steve Job did an outstanding job turning around the company of Apple in which is has made countless number one comebacks, turnarounds, and breakthroughs for the company. You might be wondering what this has to do with God. But the same as God works through the lives of Joel and other biblical characters God works through the lives of us. God works through the lives of Steve Jobs to turn his company around in times in which he was in trouble. God has worked through the lives of you, but often times its sad to say but we are to blind to the fact that God has done great things in our lives that we should be thankful for that he didn't have to do. You have your health, strength, freedom, and security. I would say that's a lot to be thankful for!

Joel received a lot of help from friends, family, relatives, and co-workers. Joel's sister Lisa speaks on Wednesday nights as she leads women to worship from all biblical aspects of the bible. Lisa is, has been, and will always be an original early supporter of Joel as she has been with Joel from the start. Paul Osteen, Joel's brother is a world renown famous heart surgeon who performs work out of Kenya, Africa and can be seen speaking at Lakewood on Wednesday nights also when Lisa the sister of Joel is not speaking.

Dodie Osteen the mother of Joel Osteen holds a prayer and healing service at Lakewood the second Tuesday of every month and has been highly affiliated with the church for over 50 years.

Victoria Osteen is a woman of God who is the assistant pastor of Lakewood Church. Victoria's audience opens up a wider fan base of opportunity. She too writes Christian books. I haven't read her latest book "Love Your Life", but I look forward to honing my skills of Godliness especially in the area of relationships a subject that is very close and dear to my heart.

I would have to say the people that criticize Osteen for not teaching enough out of the bible truly do not understand how God operates, but most importantly truly do not understand themselves. But God operates through Joel to speak healing, restoration, and biblical doctrine into people or the congregation. Once you understand this you will understand is more in dept how God works.

I cannot stress to you enough how much I am looking forward to Joel's new book "Everyday A Friday" which is set to release September 13th 2011 in books stores all around the world. "Everyday A Friday" will be a powerful dynamic reading of the 21st century by one of the greatest Christian authors of the 21st century if not of all times.

If ever you are in the Houston area I recommend you attend Lakewood Church pastured by Joel and Victoria Osteen. You're in for a real treat. The best part about it is. It's free! It doesn't cost you anything.

Become a Better You is a wonderful book

Become a Better You is a wonderful book. Its messages are meant to help us look at ourselves and our relationships in an objective manner and to make the necessary changes so that the person we share with the world is giving and positive and living up to what God wants us to be. Osteen is a master storyteller, and each story helps us see areas in our lives where we are on point or where we fall short. The first half of the book becomes slightly repetitious, but stick it out; by the time you get to the second half you'll be hooked.

As Good as you'd think it would be

I was so happy when I heard she was coming to Power 105 as I was not the biggest Hot 97 fan and was equally excited for this book to come out. I'm a fast reader and as soon as this downloaded to my kindle,I dove in head first. Admittedly though I'm not done with it but I can tell you that this book is great & easily gets 5 stars. A real hip hop fan will love this memoir.And truth be told,I think any fan of radio personalities and music in general will love this. I'll be done with it in a day or so,it's that good. Simply put,great read by a great person and even greater icon in hip hop. Buy this,you'll love it!

I grew up in the era where Hot 97 started as a freestyle station and went it went hip hop I was like Oh noooo where will I hear Judy Torres again??!! Anyway. A Jersey girl who grew up in the same era as Angie, Im SO happy I read this, bc Ill be honest - her move to Power made me question her loyalty....

What can I say? She seems as loyal - ethical - and kind as they come...This was the feel I always got from her on 97, and I could tell any artist on air had an upmost respect for her.

Loved to hear her upbringing in NY her time down in Florida jamming to Miami Bass (haha) and her growth from child to woman, despite the BS. She dabbled as we all did was so honest, and real...and I didnt put the book down til I got to WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED WHEN SHE WENT TO POWER...and it all made sense..

She is beautiful, smart, not a girlie girl and high maintenance. And I relate to her so much....I guess alot of us in the tristate may - but seriously - funny parts, sad parts, just real parts (Tupac interview got to me) and anyway...all of it. Loved it....The Voice of NYC - Love you Angie!!! Congratulations on your success with this memoir. You are loved by us, too. Besitos!!!

I'm a really big fan of biographies and I love the "overcoming" factor

I'm a really big fan of biographies and I love the "overcoming" factor. This book for me was only ok though. Although there were some great moments in the hip hop culture discussed, overall Angie's story didn't really fascinate me. Not to take anything from what Angie has achieved and what she represents, obviously she is a "big deal", but the story itself didn't really leave an impression.

Using the invisibility her slave status brings, Isabel lurks and listens as Master Lockton and his fellow Tories plot to crush the rebel uprisings, but the incendiary proof that she carries to the rebel camp doesn’t bring the desired rewards. Like the central character in M. T. Anderson’s Octavian Nothing duet, Isabel finds that both patriots and loyalists support slavery. The specifics of Isabel’s daily drudgery may slow some readers, but the catalogue of chores communicates the brutal rhythms of unrelenting toil, helping readers to imagine vividly the realities of Isabel’s life. The story’s perspective creates effective contrasts. Overwhelmed with domestic concerns, Isabel and indeed all the women in the household learn about the war from their marginalized position: they listen at doors to rooms where they are excluded, and they collect gossip from the streets. Shame on the founding fathers

Whatever we may think of the founding fathers and the American Revolution it was not about “all men [having been] created equal”. Both the northern and southern colonies included one in every five persons who were kidnaped and enslaved—Africans and their descendants. Chains is an historical novel about the life of a teenage girl enslaved on New York Island (Manhattan) and her trials with loyalists and rebels during middle and late 1770s of the Revolutionary War. Both sides had slaves and neither side respected the freedom of runaways. It was a world of extraordinary inequality in which prisoners of war were abused to the point of starvation unless they were gentrified officers who were then held under comfortable house arrest and slaves who were considered inhuman property whose owners could punish them with the direst cruelty. While most of the characters are fictional, the situation of their lives is carefully documented with historical records. What might otherwise seem to be impossible exaggeration becomes sadly believable and shameful. It is a blight on the idyllic vision of our so-called enlightened history. But Chains is a remarkably well told and compelling story. Whether you are predominately a reader of fiction or history you are likely to appreciate and learn from this book. I was compelled to finish it two days.

Great for tweens, teens, adults

Love this book! I used it as a read aloud and used some sections for close reading with my 5th grade class. Before sharing it with my class, I couldn't put it down. I myself learned a lot about the American Revolution, and it was refreshing to hear history from the viewpoint of marginalized people, whose voices are generally not represented. I can't wait for part 3- Ashes.

Quite possibly Chains is one of the best, most difficult, mesmerizing, lilting pieces of American historical fiction I've ever read.

Isabel and her 5 year old, "slow" sister Ruth are slaves. They were supposed to get their freedom upon the death of their mistress, but in a cruel twist of fairly common fate, the son of their mistress sells them to a well-to-do Tory couple on their way back to New York.

Only it's 1776 and New York is caught in the grip of rebellion and political upheaval. The first person Isabel meets is the slave of a rebel patriot, Curzon, who makes it known to Isabel that any information she can pass on about her Tory master will be rewarded.

But despite risking herself for the patriots and the implied promise of freedom, Isabel will contend with broken promises and refusal to acknowledge her humanity from the very men fomenting war to protest their own lack of voice and freedom.

What side can a slave choose?

From the first chapter Anderson sets you down in Isabel's work-a-day world and immerses you in 1776 New York. There are primary source quotations at the beginning of each chapter that only drive home the terrible irony of a time people waxed eloquent on freedom and still kept slaves. Anderson slowly strips away any naivete a reader might have as she imprisons Isabel in cruel situations where she can not care for the only precious thing she as left-- her sister, Ruth.

You can learn more about famous patriots and the Revolutionary war reading this book then many a textbook-- and the lessons will sink deep in your brain because of how Isabel experiences them and the meaning it has for her own life as a slave.

And Isabel's voice. A perfect balance of gritty reality, a touch of African spirituality, and that stream of consciousness sensibility that Anderson brings to her main characters that let you inside a world so utterly different from your own in a way that makes it familiar and terrifyingly real.

I wouldn't necessarily hand this book to a younger YA reader without being sure they could handle some very cruel (but realistic) portrayals of slapping, beating, and at one point branding of a slave.

Highly recommended.

This book is the first English language, all-Russian book on women's history, and translates the knowledge, theories and methodologies in use within Russian national historiography to tackle gender and women's history. It represents the research results of Russian gender and women's historians who are devoted to advancing women's rights and gender sensitive agenda in the Russian academic community and Russian society in general. This book appears in the context of a deep backlash from the liberal ideology of Russian modernization. This backlash has manifested itself in the constant and persistent calls for traditional values and the rebuke of gender as a concept, allowing people to choose their sex. Women have been expected to return to their "natural state" as mothers and housekeepers; feminism once again became a pre-condition for bad motherhood and a general threat to family and was even held responsible to "unnatural vices". Such an attack on gender and feminism as academic concepts and their further politicization makes women's history especially sound. It also prompts scholars to reflect on the reasons and roots of such hostility. Furthermore, it brings up the imminent question of what these traditional values are and where they come from. It is evident from the collection that some of the most exciting developments in the field are now taking place outside the major metropolitan centers of Moscow and St. Petersburg, which still remain the locations most often visited by western researchers and where most international collaboration is located. Also welcome is the fact that the individual chapters demonstrate the growing penetration and awareness of western historiographies and research methodologies in post-Soviet publications across the Russian Federation, and this opens up the prospects for the further development of cross-cultural exchange, networking, and the publication of shared and comparative findings." About the Author
Marianna Muravyeva is a Professor and Marie Curie Senior Research Fellow at Oxford Brookes University, UK. She specializes in the history of crime, legal history, gender history, and the history of sexuality in early modern Europe. Her publications include the edited volumes Gender in Late Medieval and Early Modern Europe (2013); Shame, Blame, and Culpability: Crime and Violence in the Modern State (2012); and Bytovoe nasilie v istorii rossiiskoi povsednevnosti [Violence in the history of Russian everyday life] (2012). Natalia Novikova is an independent scholar. She received her doctorate from Yaroslavl' State Pedagogical University, Yaroslavl, Russia, and worked as an Associate Professor of History for more than 15 years for this university. She has published a number of articles on Russian women's movements, including "Early Historical Accounts of the Russian Women's Movement: a political dialogue or a dispute?" in Women's History Review 20(4) (2011).
