About the Author
L. Thomas Winfree, Jr., received his Ph.D. degree (sociology) from the University of Montana in 1976. Besides his current position as Professor of Criminal Justice at New Mexico State University, he has held academic appointments at the University of New Mexico, East Texas State University (now Texas A and M University, Commerce), and Louisiana State University. Winfree has authored or co-authored over 70 refereed journal articles, 20-plus book chapters, and numerous reports. He is co-author, with Howard Abadinsky, of UNDERSTANDING CRIME, Second Edition (Wadsworth, 2003). Included among Winfree's research interests are youth gangs, police socialization, and contemporary justice system responses to drug and alcohol problems.

Howard Abadinsky is professor of criminal justice at St John's University. He served eight years as an inspector for the Cook County, Illinois, sheriff and 15 years as a New York state parole officer and senior parole officer. The founder of the International Association for the Study of Organized Crime, he also served as a consultant to the President's Commission on Organized Crime. He holds a B.A. from Queens College of the City University of New York, an M.S.W. from Fordham University, and a Ph.D. in sociology from New York University.

Great for Renting!!

I am in Grad School for Criminal Justice and I just found this a much better way rather than to buy a book from my school bookstore. Even if I thought about buying from the bookstore I wouldn't get much back when class is over, so Amazon is helping me get great grades and save money!! I will always look here for renting my books first :)

5 slow burning stars-so good!

LOVED this book! This is my favorite of Veronica Larsen's books.
This book is about Julia and Giles. If you haven't read any of the other books, start here. Julia and Giles are roommates. Oh-The slow burn between then is so good. The story and characters were believable, loveable, & funny. The banter between the two is perfect. I loved seeing how Julia and Lex met and became friends too.

I loved, loved, LOVED this book. Definitely Ms. Larsen's best work so far. I've always been a fan of her witty banter, her strong heroines, and gorgeous writing, but this one is on a whole new level. Be warned, once you start reading you won't be able to stop. Julia and Giles story is refreshing, mature, hilarious, sexy, and so sweet, it melted my heart.

This is angst done right, sexy times that leave you breathless, and new adult at its finest.

A story about becoming friends and learning about each other before having sex!
I highly recommend this book. I found myself nit being able to put the book . I just finished it and it's 3a.m. and I will need to be up at 5 for work.

Slow down, Think, Reflect

Recently I felt the need to re-evaluate my life. I wondered who I really was, what I had actually accomplished in my life and what I would accomplish in the future.

Having read Julia Cameron's "Artist Way" I decided to go with her works and purchased several on Amazon. One was "The Sound of Paper".

Although similar to some of the others she has written it is still different enough to stand on its own. I did miss having a Table of Contents and found myself creating my own as I often forget where a particular thought might be in the book and a table of contents just makes it easier.

One of the most important things I took away from this book is the importance of taking the time to reflect and get to know myself; in other words slow down, ask myself questions and really think about the answers.
